BEARS FOR SCHOOLS
Rockingham County Education Foundation provides new bears to children in local schools who have lost one or both parents to death or deportation. Since the program began, bears have been deployed to children who lost parents to cancer, heart attacks, COVID-19, and tragic accidents. Separation, whether by death or deportation, is a traumatic experience, often bringing feelings of confusion, abandonment, and deep sorrow.
There may be no greater need for comfort for a child than during this time.
Bears for Schools provides a super soft quality teddy bear to students and their younger siblings suffering a loss.
Teddy bears are shipped immediately upon need and directly to the school. RCEF coordinates with school faculty and staff to ensure the bears are given to the child at school or delivered to their home by their principal or teacher.
School principals, faculty and staff - anyone working in a public school - can request a bear for a student and siblings. Just complete this form, and we'll be in touch to take care of the rest.
